Flight-Restricted Zone (FRZ)
The Flight-Restricted Zone (FRZ) surrounding Washington, DC encompasses all airspace inside a radius extending about 15 nautical miles from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. In the DC-FRZ, all aviation operations, including UAS (drone) flights, require approval by the FAA, TSA, and on-duty air traffic controllers. Additional security measures must be undertaken to operate within a 7 nautical mile radius of Reagan National (due to proximity to the White House, U.S. Capitol, and other essential buildings.)
